Lake Mary, Fl., August 19, 2011 - Over the past three years, Fiserv associates at the 600 Colonial Center Parkway location in Lake Mary, Fla. have been actively supporting area and national charitable causes through the local, associate-run Community Affairs Committee. Initiated in 2008 by a group of associates rallying behind a local AIDS Walk to raise awareness and funds, the committee has organized to help raise and contribute more than $100,000 to causes in Central Florida.

Those funds have gone to support nearly 40 different organizations, ranging from Meals on Wheels and Hospice, to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida. This year alone, associates raised more than $15,000 for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life and another $12,000 for Seminole Stroll, a fundraiser for AIDS awareness and research.

A cornerstone of the program is the monthly "Dress Down for a Cause" event. Associates buy a sticker for $5 which entitles them to wear jeans on the third Thursday of the month. Associates can then nominate charities online, educating others on the needs of the cause and their association with it. The committee meets monthly to review the requests, and ensures that organizations supported re 501^©(3) qualified charitable organizations..

"The key to the program's success is active associate participation," said Bob Hayne, Fiserv associate and founding member of the Community Affairs Committee. "The goal of our committee is to work together to not only help effect positive change in our community but to support the causes and charities that touch our associates' lives."

In addition to the Dress Down days, the committee organizes special events throughout the year, such as a toy drive for the Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, a food drive for Second Harvest Food Bank and a silent auction for Relay for Life, which includes many items personally donated by Fiserv associates.
